Lauderhill Fla Oct 12 2012 A 73-year-old securityguard died in the hospital on Thursday after being wounded in a police-involvedshooting two weeks earlier, according to Lauderhill Police.
Earl Brown had called police to report a prowler around 2:05a.m. on Sept. 27, in an alley between the International Global Metals recyclingfacility and Lauderhill Point apartments.
Three Lauderhillpolice officers were responding to a call on the 1700 block of Northwest 31st Avenue.They found a man carrying a weapon and opened fire, hitting him once, Capt.Rick Rocco said at the time.
Investigators found a loaded .44-caliber magnum revolver atthe scene that they believed belonged to Brown, according to the investigativereport.
The three officers involved in the shooting were put on paidadministrative leave which is standard procedure, Rocco said.
