School supply list

Today Daniel got a letter from his school which has his teacher's name and supply list.
He was disapointed to hear that his teacher is not a Mr...(man).
Mom and Cla were laughing ....knowing the fact that he expect to have a male teacher , Mom think he got the ideas from Clarissa (who wanted to have a female teacher)
Mom explained that there is no male teacher for Kindergarten (usually) :)
I think in his mind, male teacher will be fun to play cars or soccers with...:)

Its good that the letter arrive before noon, so we can go buy the supply list together with Clarissa
Its kind of tricky since Clarissa's supplies need to be brought tomorrow and the letter came yesterday. For Daniel its ok since we have today until next week.

We went to Office Max and Walmart.
Oh, wait,..on the way we went to Post office (for the first time), to send some cards to our old friends
We miss the quietness of Post office in Sunderland, the post office here is big and the parking space is very crowded, luckily its still easy to find a parking spot, mom hate post office with difficult parking space

We bought almost all of the school supplies today, which made us happy and relief: one more thing done.
Clarissa said the teacher here sure have a very long list. Its more than 20 different items, to be exact its 26 diffrent items ( Mom just counted it)

One thing mom doesnt understand is 60 pencils, its not a big problem since pencils are very cheap but why 60? Mom thinks Clarissa will not finish 60 pencils.... unless she bites it when she is hungry..:)

This week

This week is a busy week (doesnt mean last week we were not busy)
Monday: Inspection (emission test),sofa hunting
Tuesday: Another ac opening at the bank
Wed: Written test & driving licence and buying school supply list
Thur: Uhaul-Sofa pick up, Both school new students pizza lunch
Fri: Supper at Mrs Z's mom ( in the morning mom need to return some stuff to walmart/target and find 1 or 2 things)
Sat: Promised the kids to go to Aquatic and ICF gathering

Right now, mom feel so good, at least some important things are done
Inspection was critical since our van was an old van and we were worried that it wont pass, but it passed
Written test was another burden, but its over now
Picking up sofa is another big things, mom was worried that we are not strong enough and worried if it doesnt fit the door, it was not easy, but its also over now
Thank God for a good week

Another busy day

Today we started early, pick up the Uhaul first and then pick up the sofa and love seat.
In a new place, it wasnt as easy as you can plan, first we missed the Uhaul store, and started to worry, but then we found it.
Then mom worried about the sofa, will we strong enough to lift it up?
A little bit story behind it, last monday we did sofa hunting and found this sofa and couch, previously owned by a young doctor who will move out of state. Its a good quality sofa and still in excellent condition, as good as you can expect, with a great price too

Back to the story, he is very friendly and kind, he helped dad lift both sofa and love seat
Last but not least, how to lift it up from Uhaul into our living room
The biggest problem is: will that fit our front door?

Fortunately, or should we say THANK GOD, that it fit perfectly, and it wasn't easy, means we dont know what happened if the door is 1 inch smaller or the sofa is 1 inch bigger, maybe mom will cry to death if it doesn't fit
Mom know a sad story about my mom's friend who bring sofa from hundred miles away and didnt fit to the door and has to throw it away.

Anyway , now our house looks more homy and the living room start to look like what it should.Few days ago we still use the living room as Thomas the tank engine tracks and stations :)

Afther sofa business is done, dad bring Daniel to his pizza lunch and Mom brought Clarissa to her pizza lunch
Its a bad idea for 2 schools to held a new students piza lunch at the same time.
Fortunately dad agreed to go to work late
We met other Japanese family at Cla's school who his brother cant attent the event because his dad cant skip work

It was fun to meet other new families, and they asked the students at the same grade to sit together in the same table. There are 5 new 5th graders, and one of them, a girl, is in the same class with Cla. (There are 5 classes)
Its good for her to meet somebody, and because both of them are new, they are happy to know each other.

The school counselor who arrange everything today, took picture of all 3rd, 4rd and 5th grader to be post at the school bulettin, so everybody will know who are new.

After the lunch and explanation about everything by the principal, we had a tour. Its really nice to see almost every single room of the school.
The 5rd grade classes are in one wing, 3 down stairs and 2 classes are upstairs.
Clarissa's class is in down stair and her classroom door is very close to cafetaria door :)Hopefully she wont smell the yummy food everytime and feel hungry before lunch time :):)

Daniel's lunch

Daniel loves to eat lunch at school
So far, mom packed his lunches, he only bought chocolate or strawberry milks sometimes whenever we want it
He finishes his lunch everyday
Day 1 Chocolate chip waffle
Day 2 Buttered Pasta
Day 3 Ham & mayo sandwich
Day 4 Ham & mayo sandwich again (his request)
Day 5 Hamburger bun with....another ham and mayo...haha
Day 6 Jelly sandwich and Cream cheese sandwich

Until day 5 he always ate it up, he is also finished his snack
Looks like he is always hungry
Note: Now he can eat more than Clarissa, who is 4 1/2 years older

Mom is happy that he can eat all of it .
So far he doesnt want to buy lunch at school, he still enjoy homemade lunch. These days he is memorizing his pupil number ( which is also like a pin number for buying lunch)
Maybe next week or week after that he can buy lunch. NOT everyday hopefully. Mom will go bankrupt if he buys everyday :)
(Note: we dont have to order at the beggining of the month, he can just order if he wants)

My main project for the summer is basically the dream of any soon-to-be job-seeking college student (like myself). I am working with Human Resources to research and develop a social media strategy for recruiting, observing what kind of cool new methods other companies are implementing. The best part of this job is that my research consists of looking at company websites, twitter accounts, LinkedIn profiles, facebook pages and YouTube accounts all day long. Lately, I’ve been too busy to keep up with my research, but now that our presentations are going to be here oh so soon (exactly two weeks from now) I have to make time so I can be fully prepared to explain what’s going on in the exciting world of recruitment.

Here is a little peek of what I’ve been working on …

twitter – Lots of companies are using their twitter feeds to publicize job openings in addition to sharing information about their culture or their employees, so I follow anyone and everyone from our main competitors to companies like Starbucks and Google. One thing I’ve learned: Recruiters love to tweet … all the time.

So many tweets, so little time ...

YouTube – Some companies are using YouTube to promote their company culture and the organization by posting videos of company events and employee profiles showcasing what they love about their jobs. (How cool is that?!)

Since I’m a marketing major, all of this research is showing me how many different ways social media can be used for one company. Also, I will begin looking for my first post-grad job rather soon, and I’m learning how to be as thorough as possible when preparing for an interview. Most people long for the time to invest in this kind of research, and I’m lucky enough to have it be my job!

I couldn’t end this post without a shameless plug for Vera’s company culture or our open jobs … so check out the official Vera Bradley blog, Inside Stitch, for some fabulous posts about life at Vera Bradley, and be sure to stop by our Careers page to see what openings we have at our home office and in our retail stores!

Yavapai AZ July 2 2012 Four victims were killed when their helicopter crashed into the Verde River, about 6 miles south of Camp Verde, on a flight from Sedona to the Scottsdale Airport, authorities say.

The pilot was identified as Raymond P. Perry, 70, of Phoenix, who was listed, along with Donna J. Perry, on Arizona Corporation Commission records as the helicopter's owner.

Dwight D'Evelyn, a spokesman for the Yavapai County Sheriff's Department, identified the other victims as Karen Stinn, 68, of Cave Creek, and Mike Dunaway, 63, and his wife, Linda Dunaway, 64, of Glendale.

D'Evelyn said the crash likely occurred sometime on Saturday. A state Department of Public Safety helicopter crew arrived in the area Sunday morning and confirmed there were at least two fatalities.

Yavapai County sheriff's deputies hiked to the remote scene, and they were able to confirm that all four people aboard the helicopter were killed in the crash. Deputies recovered the victims' remains from the river and have turned them over to the Yavapai County Medical Examiner's Office, D'Evelyn said.

Footage from a 12 News helicopter showed the helicopter's wreckage sitting in the river and deputies wading in the water.

The wreckage was spotted about 8:45 a.m. by a private pilot, according to Ian Gregor, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration. Search crews with the Civil Air Patrol started looking for the Aerospatiale AS350 on Saturday.

Gregor said the FAA and and National Transportation Safety Board will be investigating the crash.
