Prince George CountyMD Sept 21 2012 A Prince George’s County police officer charged earlierthis year with assaulting a 13-year-old during a chase is now facing a $5million lawsuit from the teen’s family, which claims the officer punched theboy in the face and put a gun to his head before letting him go uncharged.
Cpl. Rickie Adey, a 10-year veteran of the force, wascharged in July with assault and misconduct in office for an August 2011incident in which he was accused of attacking the teen. Police had saidpreviously that Adey pursued the teen while responding to a report of gunfirein the 6900 block of

At some point the teenager’s fingers inadvertently brushedAdey’s gun, according to the lawsuit. After that, the lawsuit claims, Adey putthe weapon to the teen’s head and said, “Have you ever had a hammer to yourhead,”
The lawsuit claims Adey let the teenager go, withoutcharging him or offering him medical attention for a bloody nose, after afemale officer arrived on the scene,

Assistant Prince George’s Police Chief Kevin Davis said Adeyhas been assigned to paid administrative duties while the legal process isongoing. He referred a reporter seeking comment on the new details in the suitto a police blog post containing video of Police Chief Mark Magaw commenting onAdey’s indictment.
Adey's attorney did not immediately return a phone messageseeking comment Wednesday morning.
