
Carey Klain, a Louisville Metro Police Departmentspokeswoman, said police think the shooting was a domestic incident, though shecould not disclose their relationship between the suspected shooter and thevictim.
Their identities had not been released.

Five hours later, an employee who declined to be named saidshe didn’t know when it would reopen or why the store remained closed.
Police believe the victim had been shopping at the Walmartand was loading items into the car when she was shot, Klain said. She was shotonce outside of her car, Klain said.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

A portion of the parking lot at the store was cordoned off,and some customers stood nearby waiting to be able to get to their cars.
One man said he had to call someone to pick him up becausehis car was parked behind the victim’s car. Police told them he could not movehis car because of blood that had splattered onto it.
Caroline Rodriguez, 36, said she was shopping in the storewhen she began overhearing people talking about an incident outside.
“At first, you could just overhear people talking about thepolice cars and fire truck,” she said. “When I checked out, the (cashier) saidsomeone got shot. I couldn’t believe it.”
